Watership Down Painting

For my Advanced Painting class (which finishes this semester) I wanted to take a more illustrative approach and try for some pieces that either blatantly or subtly hinted at works of fiction.

One of my favorite books is "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. I used a photo of the actual Downs for a loose reference for the background, and then added what could easily be the main character, Hazel, as the subject. I feel that the background is just real enough to get the point across, but also imagined enough to look like something for a children's book.
